The “Project Work” subject is a complex, specialized course that is entirely practice-oriented. Its aim is to provide students with the opportunity to work under project conditions within the framework of a semester-long project simulation and to carry out a specific, clearly defined task.
Creating the project environment, executing the chosen topic/goal, and operating in a project-like manner is the responsibility of the students.
The topic/goal of the project work is closely related to a real-life corporate, economic, or practical problem. Therefore, its solution involves tasks of planning and organization.
In an environment similar to real projects, students must produce a concrete result during the semester. Project teams may, for example:
- develop business plans,
- conduct research and publish findings,
- write studies,
- design and implement CSR, environmental, or pro bono projects,
- create feasibility studies,
- analyze specific corporate processes and propose improvements,
- test business solutions/models in a corporate environment,
- create software designs,
- … etc.
The outcome of the project work can therefore be a procedure, a tool, or another intellectual product that effectively integrates the economic (and/or technical) knowledge and approaches learned during the studies into the task execution.
The task must be completed as part of a project team, which always consists of three students.
Project Work provides an opportunity for students from different academic disciplines to collaborate in practice. When forming groups, it is important that members have complementary and diverse competencies (e.g., the team should include someone with strong communication and organizational skills, someone precise and experienced in analytical or research work, someone who thinks in systems, etc.). It is possible for students from different majors, specializations, or programs to form joint project teams.
The course is heavily based on project methodology, relying on planning, time and deadline management, progress tracking, task delegation, continuous communication, and many other elements students are likely to encounter in real-world projects.
Through this course, students can develop skills that enhance their ability to collaborate, work in teams, communicate effectively, manage their time, and successfully apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
