Management Simulation: GBL approach on soft skills

Workshop: Management Simulation: GBL approach on soft skills. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes. Methodology: Demonstrative and Active. Work: Teamwork (3/4 students) it depends on the number of participants. Opening: 10 minutes - presentation and explanation of the workshop. Development: 40 minutes. Contents: soft skills to develop during the workshop activity (communication, interpersonal, leadership, organization, teamwork, decision making, problem solving, ...); tools: skill-box method. Activities to develop by students: management activities in order to get to a solution to the presented "situation". Presentation: 20 minutes (depending on the number of groups - 5 minutes for each group). Students presentation to their colleagues of the activity outcomes and their means to achieve the end. Discussion of the presentations: 15 minutes. Self-assessment and Close-up: 10 minutes.

De-globalization: The end of an era of ever more international trade and cooperation?

We often hear that international trade and other forms of international cooperation are growing exponentially, causing quite a lot of changes in our society. It means among others that supply chains of businesses can be spread out around the globe. This leads to increased competition as well as tougher conditions for people working in several economic sectors, that are feeling the heat of the competition. However, when studying the trade volumes over the last decade (and not just in 2020, due to the Covid-19 crisis), it becomes apparent that international trade has not grown anymore. The financial crisis in 2008 seems to have been a trend-break. Have we started a new era? An era of de-globalization, where we see new counter forces to globalization emerging? And if so, will this lead to an economically better situation for Europe in general and Hungary in particular? Find out more and discuss together on this topic during the international week!

Theory with practice: nothing works and nobody knows why?

The main purpose of our course is to discuss how new development concept of Society 5.0 balances Industry 4.0, responsible economic development, and resolution of social problems by advancement of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in organizations. Drawing from organization, sustainable development, and social functionalism theories, we analyzing CSR in organizations in line with goals of a forward-looking and socially responsible society. In last decade management and business studies suggest incorporation of technology in models of CSR, a regionally grounded solving of individuals’ social problems, and changing of CSR’s environmental, social, and economic dimensions according to circumstances of Society 5.0. Such understanding of responsible development created guidance for improvement of CSR practice in organizations through their responsible operating and behavior grounded on the governing environmental and social circumstances in modern society. It also revealed new possibilities for interest-based utilization of human-centered society among individuals and organizations.

Virtual teams – from theory to practice

The course is designed to given students an overview of virtual teams in companies, knowing that remote working in very common in today’s business environment. It is organized in three parts, as it follows. The first part, briefly presents the main characteristics of virtual teamwork in organisations as well as the factors that contribute to virtual team performance. The second part refers to virtual teamwork skills, such as communication, cooperation collaboration and so on. The third part is a practical one that enables students to develop virtual teamwork skills.
This interactive course is a good opportunity for the students to acquire knowledge about virtual teamwork and to learn and practice virtual teamwork skills.

Paradigm shift caused by ICT revolution / Misunderstanding how passwords work

We have been given new challenges by the “Information Age”. In the virtual world of cyber crime, cyber warfare and Big Brother, where the power of formal law is doubtful, where club law dominates, where we has had not enough time to develop well-established formal and informal rules yet, one of our greatest challenge is to form the new rules for the new world or, better to say, for ourselves. In this presentation we have a look at the new problems and the new possibilities.

It has always been an important security issue to prevent unauthorized access to our resources and it becomes more and more important as we go along in the digital era. Both possession based and biometric methods have been evolving fast and many experts say that the knowledge based methods, passwords, are not secure enough. In this workshop we'll prove that passwords in alone can be safe enough – unless so-called experts give false advice to average users.
